Hollingbourne is twinned with Templeuve en Peveule near Lille. The Templeuve Twinning Committee has invited Hollingbourne residents to join them for a weekend of fun on the 24th and 25th of June. On 27th and 28th Hollingbourne golfers are playing in Templeuve for the Dirty Habit Claret Trophy so ideally the two events could be combined for a long weekend.
Unfortunately just now only four people have committed to the weekend in Templeuve which is a great disappointment considering the support that Templeuve has given to Hollingbourne events including the Summer Fete and Exemption Dog Show which this year is on Saturday 10th June. More details are at http://www.hollingbournepc.kentparishes.gov.uk/sign-up-now-for-a-june-weekend-in-templeuve/
The Hollingbourne and Templeuve Twinning arrangement was signed in 2013 and there have been a number of successful joint activities since then but the there has been a problem in as much Hollingbourne with a population of just under 900 is only a fraction of the size of Templeuve which has 5600 residents. The Hollingbourne Twinning Committee is seeking to extend the support for the arrangement by inviting the residents of Bredgar, Harrietsham, and other villages to join in. A note about the successes of the Twinning is at http://www.hollingbournepc.kentparishes.gov.uk/hollingbourne-and-templeuve-twinning-news/
If you are interested in coming to Templeuve on 24th and 25th June please reply to this e-mail or any member of the Hollingbourne Twinning Committee (John Cobbett Tel 880543 or Derek Davison Tel 880650 or any other member of the Twinning Committee which includes Janice Butler, Barbara Gibbs, and Pam Nash). If the Hollingbourne cannot raise more than 10 people to go by Saturday 20th May the Twinning Committee feels that the visit to Templeuve should be cancelled.
UPDATE as of 20th May – This event has been cancelled due a lack of numbers.
